Me vs. Baltimore

I’m really starting to think that my trip to Baltimore to see the Orioles is never going to happen.  The fates are against it.  After being mugged two blocks from the stadium last year, causing me to miss the game, I vowed to go back.  My plans to do so, however, keep hitting snags.

I said if the ALCS was an alphabet one, which I fully thought it would be, I would go to Baltimore to see one of the games.  Clearly, that didn’t happen as neither the A’s or the O’s made it past the ALDS.  Strike two.

This season, I saw the A’s were going to be there on a weekend in August and thought Perfect!  It’s the A’s only trip to Baltimore this season, so it’s that weekend, or nothing.  Well, the hands of fate decided to crash that party too.  For some reason, the Baltimore Orioles have decided to make most of the Saturday home games start at 4:05.  Which would be fine, if I wasn’t flying in from the West Coast (the better coast).  You see, the earliest flight out is at 6:05 am and arrives in Baltimore at 4:10 pm.  By the time I get to the hotel, checked in and to the game, it is easily 5 pm.  Not good.  The last time I was running late to an Orioles game, it didn’t end well.  So now I’m back at the drawing board trying to figure out what to do.

Mark my words, it will happen!  I will find a way.

    • HAHAHAHA! The only thing they got was my iPhone, which sucked, but I did get upgraded to the 4S.
I had the hardest time cheering for the Ravens in the Super Bowl because I hate Baltimore because of what happened, but I hate the 49ers more as a Raiders fan.
      I hope so too!!

  1. Sorry to hear about your experience. I hear Tampa Bay is just as bad in terms of crime. But I did get to see a game at Camden Yards in 2001 during Cal Ripken’s farewell tour. Great game (he had the game winning hit) and great ballpark. Hope you get your chance to enjoy a game at the best modern ballpark. It’s like a cathedral.

    • Oh great- I’m going to Tampa Bay in April. Luckily the hotel is near by and has a shuttle. I keep hearing how great the ballpark is in Baltimore, and it’s really nice from the outside. One day I’ll make it in there!

  2. Kimm–Hi…It’s Stephanie…I’ve been following your blog because I am in the process of writing a novel about baseball and it’s good for me to hear a fan’s perspective…especially a woman’s. I worked for the Orioles for 13 years, so my novel is about a woman who (you guessed it) worked in baseball. If you come to Baltimore, I might be able to help you get the royal treatment. I still have friends who work there, which usually means good seats. :-)

P.S. Did you see I nominated you for the very inspiring blogger award? I didn’t know what these types of awards were at first, but they are where fellow bloggers recognize each other’s work. I featured you as one of my faves on the blog. http://stephsscribe.com/2013/02/11/5144/ The directions for how to participate are easy…it was fun! And I enjoyed getting one from The Living Notebook. It’s a “pay it forward” kind of thing.

    • Hi Stephanie! Thank you so much for the nomination. I’m very honored. I love baseball, and it’s always good to hear about baseball from a woman’s view. So many people think that women don’t know as much about sports as men, but that’s far from the truth. I’m looking forward to your novel!
P.S. I’m beyond jealous that you had a job in baseball. That is my dream!
